New Miss Mohlakeng crowned

Lerato Morapelo was crowned new Miss Mohlakeng 2017 but now she has the challenge to work with kids that show bad behaviour.

Lerato Morapelo was crowned new Senior Miss Mohlakeng 2017 in the Mohlakeng Ramosa Hall recently. Karabo Mosime was first princess and Gracious Mojobe second princess.

Boitumelo Tserema, a Grade 7 Malerato Primary School learner was Junior Miss Mohlakeng 2017, with the petite Lesego Selogile, a Grade 2 Venterspost Primary School learner the second princess and Precious Sethebe, Grade 8 learner from AB Phokompe High School the first princess.

Lesego Selogile (second princess), Boitumelo Tserema (Junior Miss Mohlakeng 2017) and Precious Sethebe (first princess).

The event was, however, close to being cancelled by the police. Allegedly there was a double booking for the hall as organisers of an IDP meeting also thought they had the use of the hall. Pageant organisers were able to save the night.

“We would like to say thanks to a police sergeant, who earlier wanted the show cancelled. We negotiated as the parents had prepared everything for their kids.

The sponsors also did not provide the prizes as promised, but the show had to go on. We would like to apologise to parents for all the mishaps,” said Lucky Mnisi, event organiser.

Jimmy Mokolobate, a concerned community activist added that many children in Mohlakeng behave badly, and will be a big challenge for the new Miss Mohlakeng.

“Kids have a passion for beauty shows of this nature and businesses, parents, teachers, the police and other authorities must get involved as this is a way of taking the youth and teens away from trouble,” he said.
