Two wrestlers from the Eagles Wrestling Club recently competed in the well-known and tough Warrior Race.

Aldre Groenewald and Carl Barnard competed in the Rookie section, which is all about fun and fellowship. It is the shortest distance with the easiest obstacles. Approximately 825 competitors took on this challenge and Aldre and Carl managed to finish 40th and 41st respectively.

On its official webpage [https://advendurance.com/warrior/] the Warrior Race is described as, “South Africa’s largest obstacle course race series. It’s a sport that incorporates trail running along with various physical challenges in the form of obstacles. The race offers athletes from different sporting skills the opportunity to compete with one another, to live out their sense of adventure. The series is all about being brave and overcoming challenges that put your body, mind and spirit to the ultimate test.”

Anyone can participate. All you need is a pair of old running shoes and a sense of adventure. The participants compete against each other on foot while encountering physical obstacles along the way.

According to Aldre and Carl, they will compete in the next race that will take place in November and they will try to improve their time.

They believe that the reason for their great achievement is their wrestling background and training.
