Pelzvale man found with firearm, 88 shotgun rounds

Man, 44, arrested after gun, 88 rounds of shotgun ammo was found on a plot in Pelzvale.

A 44-year-old man from Pelzvale is facing serious charges after being found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol as well as six live rounds and 88 shotgun rounds.

He was arrested at about 6.40am on Wednesday.

The West Rand Cluster Trio task and K9 teams acted on a tip off that lead them to a plot in Pelzvale, where upon their investigation an unlicensed firearm and ammunition were discovered.

Constable Lucky Matome, Spokesperson for the West Rand Cluster, said the suspect is expected to appear before the Randfontein Magistrate Court soon.

The Cluster Commander Major General Anna Mateisi applauded the members and the community for this arrest.

“Removing such weapons from the wrong hands saves lifes” said General Mateisi.
