• 16 September: Denimfees by Hoërskool Jan Viljoen in West Porges

Hoërskool Jan Viljoen gaan oor ‘n tydperk van twee dae groot makietie hou wanneer die Denimfees plaasvind. Die fees word deur die Woord en Lig Christen Kerk asook ATKV op Jannas se skoolterrein aangebied. Die fees skop die Vrydagaand af met ‘n optrede deur Ampie in die skoolsaal, asook Laerskool Randfontein se skoolkoor. Die Saterdag beloof om propvol vermaak en groot pret te wees. Daar sal stalletjies, sang, pom-poms, ‘n baba- en kleuter-, en potjiekoskompetisies, boeresport en springkastele wees. Die aand word daar ‘n Glitzy-denimmodeparade gehou.

Dis weer amper tyd vir Connie Mulder Sentrum se jaarlikse Eisteddfod Techno en 2017-skouspel. Dit word om 8vm op Saterdag, 16 September in die Bea Botha Saal in Wilbotsdal gehou. Daar gaan ook deelnemers van sentrums soos Die Oord, Irene Homes, Logwood, Sunfield Fortuna en Wes-Randse Vereniging vir Fisies Gestremde Persone wees. • 16 September (SPCA Golf Sponsorship Day at Waterpan Golf Club)

The Westonaria SPCA appeals to the public and companies to keep the local SPCAs running by supporting a SPCA Golf Sponsorship Day at Waterpan Golf Club. The aim is to raise funds for the SPCA Westonaria. They therefore need companies to sponsor a hole as well as other sponsorships. Players with an official handicap are welcome. • 30 September: Sungate Farms Spring Adventure Run in Elandsvlei

Sungate Farms are celebrating their 22nd birthday with a Spring Adventure Run in aid of charity. The proceeds of the run will be going to the following charities: Cupcakes 4 Kids with cancer, Mablomong Primary School and St Anthony’s Catholic Church. Run or walk 10km for R50 or 5km for R30. Entry to the farm is free for children under 12. Register a team of family and friends or work colleagues and come see how Sungate Farms grow their vegetables. After the walk, browse the flea market, have lunch on our lavender lawn and enjoy the entertainment. An event not to be missed. • 25 November: Power of Purple event hosted by Cansa at Hoërskool Riebeeckrand

A Power of Purple event hosted by the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) will be held on Saturday, 25 November at Hoërskool Riebeeckrand. The event, scheduled to take place from 12 noon till 12 midnight, is aimed at raising funds for education, care and support services. • 8 October: Randfontein and Westonaria SPCA annual dog walk in Randfontein

This event is a big favourite in the community where dog-lovers and their four-legged children get to have a day out. This 5km walk is for charity. • 8 October: Free community Health Expo at Cedar Country Lodge in Krugersdorp

Our health is a great concern to all of us. The most common causes of death in industrialised countries are cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The impact of these diseases is rising in developing countries. HIV and AIDS have also become a great concern in developing countries, along with depression and anxiety. These diseases and medical problems have a direct effect on quality of life and influence interpersonal relationships. The Seventh-day Adventist Church is launching a free Medical Expo on Sunday, 8 October 2017 from 10am to 2pm at Cedar Country Lodge. The entire community is invited and entrance to the lodge is also free. Health professionals, medical staff, a medical doctor and volunteers will be hosting this event. Eight main factors related to disease prevention and emotional and spiritual life will be promoted, namely: nutrition, exercise, water, sun, temperance, air, rest and trust in divine power. • 6 October: Round Table Krugersdorp 48 Golf Day fundraiser at Randfontein Golf Club

Round Table Krugersdorp 48 will be having a Golf Day fundraiser for Helmarie Naude, a 5-year-old girl who has spastic cerebral palsy resulting from birth asphyxia. They are raising funds to help her with an operation that she needs to undergo before she turns 7. This operation will be done by Dr Alok Sharma at the NeuroGen Brain and Spine Institute in India. Helmarie also needs speech therapy and Botox treatment for her leg muscles as well as eye tests and spectacles. We are aiming for approximately 120 players, who will be divided into 30 four-balls. • 23 September: The Go West! Music Festival at Coronation Park in Krugersdorp

The Go West! Music Festival is back with a BANG this year! The event takes place at Coronation Park in Mogale City. The sixth annual instalment of this much-loved music event returns to the people of the West Rand, greater Gauteng and the rest of South Africa with nothing but the best Mzansi has to offer. Musicians of all genres will share their magic and showcase their talents, including Nasty C, the multi-award winning hip-hop artist; Sands, Swaziland’s new RnB crooner Amanda Black, Trompies, Robbie Malinga, Musa, Kelly Khumalo, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, Mo Flava, Okmalumkoolkat, Soul Brothers, L’vovo, Nkoh and Bhizer, the Jaziel Brothers, Encore, Dr Malinga and the West Rand’s very own Mafikizolo. Local artists from the West Rand District Municipality will also be given an opportunity to perform alongside South Africa’s best. • 30 September: 1 Night Only with Brian Temba at Silverstar in Krugersdorp

Seasoned singer and producer, Brian Temba, will be serenading fans with his much-loved hits and velvet vocals at Silverstar. The award-winning artist and veteran actor has appeared in various South African productions, such as Muvhango, SABC 2’s flagship soapie. With special guest artists Uhuru and Reason, the show is set to be a stunning one-night-only affair with great South African talent. This is definitely not to be missed!

• 30 September to 7 October: Boktown at Silverstar in Krugersdorp

The Springboks continue their series clash with their biggest rivals in the 2017 Castle Lager Rugby Championship. The second series starts in September, against long-time opponents, Australia. Silverstar will be showing the games live on the biggest outdoor screen on the West Rand. Springbok supporters who are not able to attend the games at the stadium can still be part of the front-row action with Boktown at Silverstar. Guests will also enjoy awesome entertainment and great giveaways on the day.

• 28 October: Nitro Circus Live at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg

Nitro Circus Live will return to South Africa this summer, with the high-adrenalin tour kicking off in Cape Town on Saturday, 21 October followed by Durban (25 October) and finally Jo’burg on 28 October. The global action-sports phenomenon will bring along an all-new show, filled with unbelievable world firsts, spectacular tricks and mind-blowing stunts. Adding even more to the excitement, action-sports icon Travis Pastrana, who wasn’t able to take part in the 2014 trek, will join this summer’s tour, and will ride in South Africa for the first time.
