One killed, children among three injured as car rolls

Car rolls on the R501 killing one, injuring three others, among them children.

One person died and three others – among them young children – sustained serious injuries when the vehicle they travelled in rolled on the R501 in Carletonville on Monday evening (21 August).

Ineke van Huyssteen, ER24 spokesperson said paramedics arrived on scene at 5.40pm where they found two other medical services.

“Upon further assessment four victims were found lying outside the vehicle. It is believed that all four occupants were flung from it, two of them young children. Three of the victims were airlifted by medical helicopter to nearby hospitals.

“Unfortunately, one of them died shortly afterwards. Another victim was transported by ambulance to Western Deep Levels Hospital for further medical care,” Van Huyssteen added.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known.

Another reliable source told the Herald that one of the children was airlifted.
