Holiday Club took kids off the streets

With the help of a councillor, hundreds of children had fun and learned team building with a Holiday Club during the recent school holidays.

Children from Mohlakeng recently had the time of their lives in what is known as a Holiday Club held at the Ramosa Hall over four days.

The event was organised by the I Do Foundation and Redeemed Christian Centre, while EFF councillor Bethuel Munyai assisted them in acquiring the venue.

Kids were kept busy with activities such as tug of war, mini soccer, colouring and drawing.

According to Pastor Wayne Gabellah, “We were overwhelmed by the response, with hundreds of kids attending. There were an estimated 200 the first few days but this number went over 300 on the last day.”

Councillor Munyai added, “The aim of the programme was to take kids off the streets during the school holiday period and provide them with life skills and character-building by bringing in an element of play and fun. It was conducted by various coordinators who engaged with them in activities like tug of war, mini soccer, colouring and drawing.”
