New Kaapse Klopse on the block?

There is a group of street musicians parading in the streets of Toekomsrus and this is their story.

There is a group of young, enthusiastic street musicians from Toekomsrus wanting to wow crowds with their music, which is similar to that of the Kaapse Klopse, but they are in need of instruments.

Philip Lackay saw a need for music in the community. He then decided to start a brigade of street musicians for youngsters. The response was overwhelming as 16 youngsters started the journey. This parading in the community has set a spark alight in some youngsters’ hearts and each individual soon found a place in the group.

“We foresee massive growth as we begin parading in the community and become exposed but for starters we have begun at Eagles Rise Church in Toekies,” said Phillip.

Phillip has big goals and dreams for the group that include producing well-mannered, confident, disciplined and well-ordered young people.

For these street musicians to be successful though, they require three marching snare drums, one big bass drum, six brass bugles and 12 recorders. The brigade would greatly appreciate any help they can get from the community.

For now, though, the group wants to thank Pastors Happy and Barbara Visser for allowing them to begin this venture as an extension to their vision. The brigade is excited to start a programme in the future which will involve team building and many adventurous escapades.
