Bekkersdal Police catch murderer for a crime he committed a year ago, after he appeared in court on another matter.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested for a murder committed at the Cooke 2 mine on Tuesday, 4 October 2016.

Detective Sergeant Ralepene Moiloa, the investigating officer, received information that the suspect was appearing in another matter at the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 26 July 2017.

“He waited for the suspect and arrested him after he was identified by the source.

It is alleged that the victim was on his way to work with his friends when they were accosted by a group of five males demanding their clock cards,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, spokesperson for the Bekkersdal Police.

She said further that the suspects attacked the victims without any provocation. They were allegedly air-lifted to hospital, where one victim died because of the nature of his injuries.
