Phahama volleyball on a high
Boys' and girls' volleyball teams from Phahama Secondary School excel in the West Rand Schools Volleyball League.
Both the boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams from Phahama Secondary School did well in the recent West Rand Schools Volleyball League games hosted at the Mohlakeng courts.
The boys’ U/17 team had an easy task, outclassing their opponents from Mogale City School and winning with a score of 16–12. They also beat Thuto Lefa (15–8) and Krugersdorp High (15–5).
The girls’ U/17 team lost what could be referred to as a local derby to Thuto Lehakwe (21–19) but made up for it by beating Lodirile from Kagiso (21–16) and Thuto Lefa (21–20).
The girls’ U/16 team beat neighbours Thuto Lehakwe with a score of 15–14.
Charlie Moelbatsi and Mushi Mogapi, the boys’ team coaches, are confident their players have what it takes to go all the way in the Gauteng Championships and be selected for the West Rand volleyball team which is set to be in action at the national championships.
