West Rand Police’s finest are rewarded

This year's West Rand Cluster Police Prestige Awards 2017. The awards also serves as motivation to other employees to excel in their working environment.

The West Rand Cluster Police Commander, Major General Anna Mateisi, hosted the West Rand Police Annual Prestige Awards last Friday at Usambara.

The purpose of the Prestige Awards is to give recognition to service excellence and hard work in line with the South African Police‘s strategic objectives. The aim was to appreciate the efforts of the nominees and to motivate other employees to excel in their working environment.

Major General Mateisi awarded police members – including reservists – and civilian personnel of all levels who performed extraordinary in their respective fields of work for their individual distinguished achievements.

The event was graced by some of Gauteng Province’s Deputy Provincial Commissioners, namely Major Generals Basson, Masha and Napo. Honoured guests also included the West Rand District Municipality MMC, Ms Xaba and the Ambassador of Interpol, Andy Mashaile, as well as representatives of the sponsors, such as Dalton Mandiwana, Tshepo Ledwaba and Sello Tshukudu. Sanlam sponsored the gifts that were presented to the winners, Liberty Life sponsored the beautiful trophies and Lipco sponsored the winners’ certificates.

Major General Mateisi awarded police members – including reservists – and civilian personnel of all levels who performed extraordinary in their respective fields.

Nominees in 21 categories waited with bated breath to hear who was to be awarded best of the best. In almost all the individual categories the second and first runners-up were also awarded with trophies and certificates.

“I am honoured to award outstanding individuals and groups on their achievements tonight. During the evaluation of nominees, we found that diligence, hard work and tenacity form the golden thread throughout.

All nominees excelled in their respective environments. I applaud you,” said Major General Mateisi.

The keynote address was delivered by Major General Basson who again emphasised the importance of recognition in the working environment.

Administrative employee levels 3 to 5 :

  • Winner – Sergeant Bann (Fochville)
  • First runner-up – Assigned Officer Van der Walt (Cluster)
  • Second runner-up – Registry Clerk Van Zyl (Tarlton)

Admin employee levels 8 to 12:

  • Lieutenant Colonel Pienaar (Krugersdorp)

Vispol employee levels 3 to 7:

  • Winner – Constable Phithi (Magaliesburg)
  • First runner-up – Assigned Officer Esterhuizen (Fochville)
  • Second runners-up, jointly – Sergeant Maphuthukatha (Fochville) and Constable Thobela (Kagiso)

VISPOL employee levels 8 to12:

  • Winner – Lieutenant Colonel Magooe (Khutsong)
Brigadier Mashole Manamela, Randfontein Police Station Commander.

Detective employee of year:

  • Winner – Sergeant Nkosi (FCS)
  • First runner-up – Warrant Officer Mokhamisa (Khutsong)
  • Second runner-up – Warrant Officer Ramolondo (Fochville)

Detective group of the year:

  • First – FCS Krugersdorp
  • Second – Muldersdrift Group A
  • Third, jointly – Muldersdrift Group B and Trio Task team

Sportperson of the year:

  • Captain Terblanche (FCS)

Person living with disability:

  • First place – Captain Matlatle (Kagiso)
  • Second place – Warrent Officer Dietrichsen (Krugersdorp)
Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police, did an amazing job creating this star-studded event.

Man of the year:

  • First place – Constable Maluleke (LCRC)
  • Second place – Constable Matome (Tarlton)
  • Third place – Constable Motsoane (Hekpoort)

Woman of year:

  • First place – Captain Terblanche (FCS)
  • Second place – Registry Clerk Van Zyl (Tarlton)

Reservist of the year:

  • Reservist/ Constable Madi (Khutsong)

Special Awards by Cluster Commander:

  • Best station – Kagiso
  • Best operational station – Kagiso
  • Best CSC and complaints – Tarlton
  • Best HRM – Westonaria
  • Best Vispol – Khutsong
  • Best Detectives – Carletonville

Detective of the year levels 8 to 12:

  • Winner – Captain Bvuma (FCS)
  • First runner-up – Capt Baloyi (Muldersdrift)
  • Second runner-up – Lieutenant Colonel Gert Kruger (Trio Task team)

Administrative group of year:

  • First place – Westonaria HRM
  • Second place – Krugersdorp Loss Management
  • Third place – Krugersdorp HRM

Vispol Group of the year :

  • First place – Khutsong
  • Second place – Kagiso Group A
  • Third place – Randfontein Echo Relief
