VIDEO: Woman airlifted after pedestrian crash

Pedestrian airlifted to hospital after being hit by vehicle near the R28 between Randfontein and Krugersdorp.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson confirmed that the woman their service airlifted earlier this morning after being knocked over by a light motor vehicle had sustained serious injuries to her arms and head.

He said the incident took place after 7am and that she is believed to be in her 20s.

“We arrived on scene along with another services and found the woman lying in the middle of the road. The vehicle that had hit her was found parked 20 metres away. Paramedics assessed her and found that she was in a critical condition. She was treated for her injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the woman was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to Baragwanath Hospital for urgent treatment.”

He added the driver of the vehicle was assessed and found to have escaped injury. The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

A woman believed to be in her 30s had to be airlifted to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Luipaardsvlei near the R28 between Krugersdorp and Randfontein early on Thursday morning, 29 June.

The Herald was informed on scene that the woman had sustained critical injuries and had to be airlifted to hospital.

It is believed a motorist travelling from Randfontein on the R28 turned into Tom Muller Street and collided with the woman.

ER24, Netcare 911, QRS and other emergency services were on scene, along with many bystanders.
