Man's body found at town dumping site; murdered with stone the likely cause.

A 40-year-old man was found murdered at the Randfontein dumping site.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson confirmed that police responded to a complaint of a murder between 5am and 6am on Saturday, 3 June. They found the body of a man with multiple head injuries lying on the ground.

The victim was presumably killed with a stone that was found next to his body.

“Members investigated the incident and within a few hours they were able to arrest a 36-year-old suspect in the vicinity of the murder. The accused will appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court soon,” she said.

The motive behind the killing is still under investigation. The Randfontein Police once again urged the community not to take the law into their own hands, and to refrain from violence.

“Nothing on earth is valued as much as a life. No argument is worth the life of another,” the Randfontein Police station commander, Brigadier Jacob Manamela said.
