Man gets five years for burglary in Helikonpark

A 35-year-old man has been convicted for a burglary committed in 2015.

A 35-year-old man, Donovan Reiners, was convicted on a burglary charge on the 26 May, after facing a charge of burglary

The accused committed the robbery at a residence in Helikonpark on 22 June 2015.

“He removed goods from the scene and sold it to a pawnshop in Randfontein. The owner later identified some of the items at the pawnshop and information was received on the possible suspect.” says Captain Appel Ernst, Spokesperson for the Randfontein police.

The case was assigned to Constable Shimmy Masaole for investigation. The accused was traced and arrested in July 2015. He was sentenced in the Randfontein Regional court to serve a five year imprisonment sentence for the burglary.

The Randfontein Station Commander, Brigadier Manamela congratulated the investigator on the comprehensive investigation conducted. It is evident that the member went all out to prove this burglary, says Brigadier Manamela.

“It will be irresponsible not to also appreciate the efforts by the National Prosecuting Authority for their stance in this matter.

Together we will rid Randfontein of the criminal element,” said Brigadier Manamela.
