The West Rand Cluster Police arrested 305 people for the week starting Monday, 8 May.
This after they conducted various crime-prevention operations throughout the cluster.
The suspects were arrested for numerous serious offences, which include:
• Hijacking
• Murder
• Housebreaking
• Theft
• Being in possession of unlicensed ammunition
• Being in possession of stolen motor vehicle
• Malicious damage to property
• Assault
• Domestic-related assaults
In addition to arresting the suspects, officers managed to recover and seize suspected stolen and hijacked vehicles as well as substances suspected to be drugs.
“Most of these suspects are expected to appear in the magistrates’ courts in their respective areas soon.
Major General Anna Mateisi, the cluster commander, applauded the members for their dedication and hard work,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.
