Four injured in R28 crash

Two people sustained serious injuries following a crash on the R28.

Four people were injured, two seriously, following a car crash on the R28 on Wednesday.

The crash took place next to the Sasol garage near West Village.

According to Nick Dollman, Inland Media Liaison for Netcare Limited, only one car was involved and found smashed into a brick wall alongside a ditch.

“Netcare 911 as well as other paramedics attended to the four people from the one car,” he said.

He explained the driver and passengers sustained moderate injuries while the two passengers in the back were less fortunate – they both sustained very serious injuries.

“The female rear passenger had sustained a very serious head injury. The male rear passenger had sustained a serious fracture to his left upper leg,” Dollman said.

He said both rear passengers required advanced life support intervention before all four were transported by various ambulance services to hospital for further medical care.
