‘Get active, stay fit’ – Let’s play to kids

Learners in Grades 4 and 6 from a Mohlakeng school benefit from let's Play initiative.

Learners in Grades 4 and 6 at Matlapeneng Primary School in Mohlakeng were recently taken through a mini physical activity as part of the Let’s Play Active Education Programme.

Let’s Play is a national initiative aimed at encouraging learners to become physically fit.

Let’s Play is a national initiative by SuperSport in conjunction with the Departments of Basic Education and Sport and Recreation that is aimed at encouraging learners to become physically fit.

“We have been earmarked as one of the schools to benefit from the programme,” said Donald Molotsane, the school’s sports teacher.

David Metseyotlhe, who is another teacher at the school added, “An initiative of this kind is an incorporation of sport or physical activity into learning, to help the kids learn through playing and to uplift talent that is not necessarily academic”.

Let’s Play is a national initiative aimed at encouraging learners to become physically fit.

The learners had to go through numerous physically challenging activities such as running around cones, jumping hurdles and lifting kettle bells while running, closely watched by Sphiwe Thekiso and Tshepo Tshabalala, Let’s Play coordinators.
