Sicelo Mbini, 28, was sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment after stabbing his 22-year-old girlfriend to death.
Mbini was sentenced on Wednesday, 29 March in the Westonaria Regional Court, said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

Mbini murdered his girlfriend in the early hours of 8 April last year during a domestic-violence dispute. He was arrested shortly after the murder and the court denied him bail.
Detective Sergeant Mavis Oageng worked tirelessly throughout the investigation and court proceedings until the case was finalised.

Colonel Mbangwa Nkhwashu, station commander of the Bekkersdal Police said, “Domestic violence incidents must always be reported to prevent such crimes”.
