#ThrowBackThursday: Snakes in a drain!

A blocked drain lead to a snake slithering into home, terrifying residents.

In this week’s #ThrowBackThursday article we will be looking back at blocked drains in Toekomsrus which has now become even more of a danger.

On Thursday, 9 March a snake slithered into a Toekomsrus home after recent heavy rains.

According to Jetta Beaufort, DA Ward 8 Councillor, the snake came from a drain on Ruby Street, near the home’s location.

In a previous #MunicipalMonday article, Beaufort raised her concerns about the state of the Toekomsrus drainage system.

She said the system is so backed up and drains are so damaged, they create dangerous pools of water which children can easily fall into and drown.

She said a boy nearly drowned after falling from his bicycle and into a blocked drain water in the Pearl Street cul de sac in December last year.

The most recent snake incident makes her more determined than ever to get the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) to restore the drainage system to a functioning one.
