Thabang Dlungwane, 32, was found guilty of the murder of his 26-year-old girlfriend last year.
He murdered her on 24 January, 2016, after an incident of domestic violence in their home at about 7.20am.
When Constables Maditaba Ngkane and Peter Zuma arrived on scene, they found the Dlungwane still in his bloody clothes.
They immediately arrested him and the murder case was handed over to detective Sergeant Sevha Shiviti. Through Shiviti’s hard work, the suspect was never granted bail throughout his case.
The case concluded on Tuesday, 7 March 2017, in the Westonaria Regional Court, where Dlungwane was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment.
“This must serve as an example to the community of Bekkersdal that domestic violence can result in murder, therefore it should be treated very seriously,” said Colonel Abraham Nkhwashu, the Bekkersdal Police station commander.
