Dangerous criminals get life imprisonment

Two criminals terrorising Randfontein and Gauteng by committing crimes including murder, robbery and theft both sentenced to life imprisonment.

Warrant Officer Peet Venter from the Randfontein Police at long last ensured two criminals stay behind bars.

The two criminals, Vusimuzi Tshepo Genge, 34, and Thabiso Mabosh Molefe, 41 were both sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty on charges including murder, robbery, theft and being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The pair were on put on trial for a house robbery in Greenhills on the morning of 24 August 2010.

The pair as well as one other suspect entered a home in the area and robbed the owner as well as a visitor to the home. A shootout ensued and the men were apprehended by fast-reacting Randfontein Police officers.

Investigations linked the suspects to numerous other cases in the Gauteng area. The investigation was conducted by Warrant Officer Venter from the West Rand Hawks.

The two accused were each sentenced to 161 years’ imprisonment. They will effectively serve 33 years of the sentence. Both Genge and Molefe were declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The sentences were handed down by Judge R Maluleke at the Palm Ridge High Court while Advocate P Nel prosecuted on behalf of the state.

Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, the Randfontein Police station commander thanked Venter for his stellar work and meticulous investigation which led to the convictions and sentences.

“It is good to know that even after six years, members who conduct proper investigations into serious offences achieve success. This is surely a sterling performance by all involved,” Manamela said.
