Man, 57, busted for growing, smoking dagga

Busted! Middle-aged man caught up in drugs.

A 57-year-old man was arrested after police noticed dagga plants around his yard on Thursday.

Officers Sergeant Mike Poonyane and Constable Isaac Matshobane were busy with their routine patrols in the Bekkersdal area when they noticed the plants.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the officers entered the premises and found the man who took ownership of the plants and said he used them for smoking.

The officers asked to search the man’s shack and found a bag full of dagga over an above that which was in his garden.

“They arrested the suspect for being in possession of dagga. He will be charged and is expected to appear before the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on 20 January, 2017,” Lefakane said.
