Electrical store staff held up and bound by six suspects

One of the six suspects seemed to be pretending to be an employee of the company they were robbing.

The staff of an electrical appliance store were recently held up at gunpoint and then tied up by a group of armed robbers.

Captain Appel Ernst, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, confirmed that the incident took place on Monday, 7 November in the Randfontein Central Business District (CBD), just before the business’ regular closing time,

The business was targeted by two armed robbers at approximately 5.17pm, while its employees were still busy in the shop.

One of the robbers was said to resemble an employee of the company as his T-shirt had the company logo on it.

The robbers then produced a firearm and told the victims to go to the store-room where their hands and feet were bound and they were instructed to lie on the floor.

Four more suspects then appeared and together the six of them removed various items from the store before fleeing the scene.

“No shots were fired and no serious injuries were reported,” Ernst said.

The Randfontein detectives are now searching for the suspects, and request the public to come forward with any information that might assist in their identification and arrest.

The detectives can be contacted on 011 278 8100.
