Missing cat returns with frighting injuries

A lost cat has been reunited with her owner.

The woman who recently lost her cat has been reunited with her beloved pet.

Her black and white female cat, Gatto, went missing on Saturday, 19 November and was found just three days later.

Gatto was found in Randgate, not far from where she disappeared while her owner, Sienie Pretorius, was driving on Greenhills Avenue to take her to the vet.

Sienie said she believes Gatto managed to get out of her cat-carrier because a clasp on the carrier was broken. She then also managed to get out of the car.

Because Gatto made her escape while being transported, her landing resulted in the flesh on her jaw being scraped off.

Her owner said she received a call from a woman in Randgate who saw a cat on their roof that looked like the missing cat the Herald described on its website.

The two were later reunited and the good samaritan who brought them together was handed the R500. At first the refused the money, but later after much convincing and with great humility, she accepted it.

Gatto was rushed to the vet and went straight into theatre. Sienie said holes needed to be drilled in her jaw to lift the skin back into place.

Gatto is now home and on medication to assist with her recovery. Sienie said although Gatto has been through a lot, she is still the same Gatto as before and seems to be more than happy to be back home.
