Cops stop car, make an interesting find

Unlicensed firearm as well as suspected stolen property seized by police after pulling over vehicle.

The Westonaria Sector Police stopped a suspicious vehicle in the early hours of this morning, and made an interesting discovery.

“On Wednesday, 16 November, one of the station’s sector vehicles stopped a car travelling on the N12,” said Colonel Selvan Moonsamy, station commander for the Westonaria Police.

The four occupants of the car were discovered to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as suspected stolen property and housebreaking implements. The suspected stolen property consisted of two plasma TVs. The four suspects were arrested shortly afterwards.

It was later found that the firearm had been stolen from a farm in Potchefstroom during September this year.

“All the suspects are from Mofolo, Soweto,” said Moonsamy.
