Five Toekomsrus girls off to New York

'Financially we are looking at R75 000 excluding flights per lady'

Five pageant queens from the Miss Toekomsrus Foundation have been scouted to go to New York to grab an opportunity to do what they love.

The Miss Toekomsrus Foundation has had a number of success stories and their pageant queens have raked in awards at various competitions – the most recent being Miss Gauteng where six members of the Foundation took home big titles.

In addition to this, five beauty queens from the Foundation were scouted by Kim Myers, a world-renowned talent scout, at Silverstar in October to show off their talents in New York.

Samantha Carlese, founder of the Foundation said the girls are expected to be in New York in July next year.

“Financially we are looking at R75 000 excluding flights per lady. Fundraising will be done via the Foundation so that we can get all of them there together,” Samantha said.

Gillian Malgas, also a member of the Foundation was scouted to go to New York this year and managed to raise enough funds to be able to go. This sparked hope for those who have been chosen to go next year.

These pageant queens have been selected to go to New York:

• Robin Patrick
• Jade-mine Voster
• Alicia McKenna
• Astoia Seheri
• Cassidy Hogins

Anyone who wishes to contribute to funding the girls can contact Pamela Thyssen, Foundation secretary on 084 068 1620.
