Domestic worker tied up by five men in Helikon Park house robbery

Helikon Park home targeted by five armed suspects – domestic worker tied up.

Five armed suspects tied up a domestic worker and stole various items from the homeowners at 9.30am on Thursday, 27 October.

Braam Kruger and Antonie Botha from Mapogo Security rushed to the scene, followed by members of the Community Policing Forum, the police, and EPR Security.

The Herald was also on the scene and interviewed the traumatised 41-year-old domestic worker. She explained that a white vehicle stopped in front of the gate.

“They told me they are meter readers. I told them that I cannot open the gate at all.”

After that the suspects pulled a gun on her and forced her to open the gate. They tied her hands and feet up, while they took jewellery, clothes, shoes and a television. According to the Randfontein police, the suspects were definitely disturbed during the robbery, as they were still in the process of taking other electronics.

The homeowners spoke to the Herald and said the domestic worker is very cautious and never lets anybody enter the premises.

Captain Appel Ernst, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, confirmed that a case of house robbery is being investigated.
