One of Westgold Primary School‘s pupils knows her ABCs.
Nina Mthembu, a Grade 3 pupil at Westgold, made her way though various Spellathon competitions this year to earn the title of District Spellathon Winner in English Home Language.
She first won the school’s competition then the cluster and now the district. She will now compete in the provincial Spellathon.
When asked how the competition was and what the difficulty was she said, “It wasn’t difficult at all.”
What makes the 9-year-old’s win so significant is the fact that she competed in and won a competition in English Home Language when English is not her first language.
The school is proud of Nina and wishes her good luck for her future competitions.
