What made this year’s ceremony so special was that Thabang Motsitane, former Westcol Randfontein top achiever and now South African Airways (SAA) top dog gave a motivational speech at the ceremony.

Thabang started studying at Westcol when he was 16-years-old. He explained that he was intimidated when he took his first steps on campus and had his parents walk him to where he needed to be.

Years later in 1999, Thabang was named the best overall student as well as the best electrical student. He is now doing his diploma in Management Service while working at SAA.

Before he was called to motivate the crowd, the Three God Given Voices choir entertained the audience with their truly God-given voices. This was not the only performance as two poets were called up and both left the crowd with a few words to ponder. One of which was a lecturer at Westcol.
