Woman, 37 dead after hit and run

A 37-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle outside Carletonville on Saturday over the weekend.

Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson said she sustained fatal injuries in a hit and run incident.

“Shortly after 8pm paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found the woman lying in the middle of the R501/Govan Mbeki drive. There was nothing that they could do for her and she was declared dead on the scene.

“The vehicle that collided with her left the scene prior to EMS’ arrival.”

Police and traffic police attended the scene and will conduct an investigation.
