Sweets, love and gifts for old age home

On a day of this kind we have nothing else but to thank God.

Residents of the Mohlakeng Old Age Home (MOAH) experienced a Christmas in July as part of Mandela Day festivities.

Several private and community based organisations paid tribute to the day by sharing with the senior citizens to live up to the spirit of 67 Minutes of selflessness.

Staff from Lenmed Hospital offered their services as they provided blankets to the aged while the Lenmed maintenance team also went out of their way to paint the old age home veranda. It was also a day in which the aged had to be pampered and spoiled with pedicure and manicure by the nursing staff.

Pick n Pay also came to the party as they provided sweets, chocolates and cakes to the elderly and planted a flower of remembrance in the garden at the old age home. The Nazareth Church in Mohlakeng under Rev Moshoete and his worship team and youth entertained the elderly while Select PPE (business in Aureus, Randfontein) also brought goodies to the elderly in cakes and sweets.

“On a day of this kind we have nothing else but to thank God for all those who came to embrace this Mandela Day with us,” said Monica Tekwane, MOAH manager.

Even the little ones did not want to be left behind as Father Samyn Creche went out to clean the park at Phukuile and Mamabolo Streets.
