Family held at gunpoint in home invasion

Police: One of the gunmen allegedly hit her boyfriend on the head with the gun.

A family was tied up and held at gunpoint in their Glenharvie home early on Thursday 4 August.

According to Captain S’phiwe Ndlovu, Westonaria Police spokesperson three alleged gunmen, believed to be in their late 20s, entered the house at about 3am that day while the residents were still asleep.

One of the residents and woman woke up only to find the three suspects wearing balaclavas and gloves in her bedroom.

The suspects then allegedly held the woman, her son, 14, and her boyfriend, 43, at gunpoint.

“They were then tied up with electric cables by the gunmen,” Captain S’phiwe said.

The suspects stole valuable items such as cellular phones, a tablet and cash. One of the gunmen allegedly hit her boyfriend on the head with the gun. He allegedly sustained slight injury as a result thereof. The suspects loaded the items into a vehicle and fled the scene. They are still in the run.

The Westonaria Police urges anyone with information on this case to contact them on 011 278 5300.
