Project May yields R80k

Rainbow Daycare are now ready to make improvements.

Rainbow Daycare Centre’s Project May was a May-be when it started but to the centre’s surprise, they raised over R80 000.

The aim of Project May was to raise funds for Rainbow Daycare which is a haven for children with disabilities.

They worked in partnership with a sponsor who wishes not to be named as well as West Rand Association for Persons with Disabilities. The sponsor agreed to doubling any amount donated to the daycare from 1 May to 31 May.

In the beginning Tatum Solomons, social worker at Rainbow Daycare Centre was unsure if they would get enough donations from the community. Solomons was later pleased to find out they raised R40 900 which their sponsor doubled to R81 800.

She said they will use the funds firstly for running costs as well assistance devices for their pupils. “We are going to use the funds for many, many things but the most important is to fill the gaps our subsidy doesn’t. It’s just not enough for what we are trying to do here,” She said.

The Rainbow Daycare centre would like to thank each and every person who supported them especially Little Angles Daycare who was a pillar of strength during Project May.
