Thieves arrested for stealing truck battery

EPR: The truck driver was asleep but positively identified the stolen battery when he awoke.

Two suspects were apprehended by EPR Security after allegedly stealing a truck battery while the truck driver was asleep.

According to Johan Krogh, EPR Security General Manager, the incident took place last Friday (24 June).

Krogh said EPR Reaction Officer, Mario Viljoen who was on patrol at the time, noticed two suspects walking along Main Reef Road at about 2.59am with a heavy object concealed in a bag.

Viljoen stopped and questioned the suspects and while doing so he noticed the concealed object was a truck battery.

“Viljoen called for backup and together with EPR Reaction Officer Jaques Kriel they investigated the matter further and found that a battery had been stolen from a truck parked close to Ben Morgenrood Auto,” Krogh said.

The truck driver was asleep but positively identified the stolen battery when he awoke.

“The suspects were handed over to the Randfontein Police for further investigation. Well done, guys,” Krogh said.
