R5 million approved to fix potholes

Six streets in Randfontein will be rehabilitated in the new financial year.

R5 million was approved in the Randfontein Local Municipality council yesterday to rehabilitate the town’s roads.

This comes after a council meeting that focused on Randfontein’s debt write-off as well as the budget speech.

With regards to the rehabilitation of roads which has been an issue for Randfontein residents for years, R5 million was approved to fix Randfontein’s worst roads.

The worst roads in Randfontein were defined by the municipality as:

• Segaetsho Street, Mohlakeng
• Kabelo Street, Mohlakeng
• Lebusa Street, Mohlakeng
• Khama Street, Mohlakeng
• Selope-Thema, Mohlakeng
• Jupiter Street, Toekomsrus

The above mentioned streets – if all goes according to plan – will consume R4.1 million and the remainder will cover maintenance in other areas which include roads in town, plot areas, and Toekomsrus which the municipality said are priorities.
