Choirs from France, Soweto wow R’fontein

Choir leader: It is for the first time we perform to such a vibrant audience.

Ramosa Community hall in Mohlakeng came to life on Tuesday, 5 April with local and international gospel music offered by Marseille Choir from France and the Memeza Africa Choir from Soweto.

The event was hosted by SA Living Water Ministries under Pastor Chris Tshepe. Adding to the occasion was other France choirs The Oliver Sisters and Soul Addicts who belted out traditional African American gospel music with much aplomb.

Ntombi Khumalo, Randfontein first lady and wife to Mzi Khumalo, Randfontein Executive Mayor along with her cousin Jonki and Stephen Matebele opened up the event.

Another top gospel artist was Pretty, who is famous for appearing in Joyous Celebration and Spirit of Praise projects.

The hall had no space to move as members of the audience including visitors from France could not contain themselves in dancing and clapping hands to an occasion that was more of a church praise and worship service filled with spirit.

“It is for the first time we perform to such a vibrant audience. In our country the audience appreciates music differently to what we experienced,” said Marylene Oliver, choir leader.
