We could help the post office

We would like to propose that the RPA initiate and coordinate a clean-up campaign.

To the South African Post Office, I am appalled at the state of Randfontein Main Post Office in Stubbs Street.

The grounds are always full of litter, the grass has not been cut in a very long time and the ceilings in the post box area are collapsing – a potential danger to anyone collecting their post. In general the interior and exterior are quite disgusting.

Besides the state of the post office grounds, the staff are unfriendly and apathetic. Clearly there is no motivation to provide good customer service and overall there is no pride in what they do or how their place of work looks.

The local newspaper, Randfontein Herald, has featured two articles about the disgusting state of affairs and residents are fed-up as well. A photo was recently taken of a man sleeping on one of the counters.

How can we help:

As the Publicity Association, one of our responsibilities is to promote our town and its businesses. We are also the organisers of the annual Randfontein Show, the third largest of its kind in the country. This event attracts more than 45 000 visitors each year.

We would like to propose that the Randfontein Publicity Association initiate and coordinate a clean-up campaign for the Randfontein Post Office and help maintain the exterior (garden) areas.

There will be no cost involved for the SAPO and this proposed initiative can help create job opportunities and give people a sense of pride in their town.

Obviously we need permission from the SAPO head office to do this and I would appreciate it if you could pass this letter on to the relevant authority who can give us the go-ahead.

We would like to start this campaign no later than 3 May and would appreciate feedback as soon as possible so we can get things into place. Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely.
