A dangerous crossing you should take note of

Concerned resident: The problem comes where motorists simply do not stop at the stop signs.

Neil Venter, 32, a resident from Elandsvlei has warned the community of the dangerous Northway-R24 crossing just past Bartlet Eggs.

Venter says that for the past year, accidents have occurred weekly at this four way crossing.

Motorists travelling towards either Ventersdorp or Krugersdorp have the right of way as there is no stop for them but, the problem comes in where motorists simply do not stop at the stop signs when they are either heading to Tarlton or Randfontein.

Venter added the latest accident occurred on Friday, 18 March, where a truck failed to stop. On visiting the site, the Herald could still see bumpers and a shattered window laying around the stop sign.

He urges motorists to be extra vigilant when travelling on that road and to make sure they stop well in time before the stop sign.

The municipality should definitely do something about this.

“Even if they put bumps in the road urging motorists to slow down and stop. This is a very dangerous crossing. “
