Man carjacked after visiting ATM

Police: They pointed at him with a firearm and forced him into his vehicle.

Randfontein Police need the public’s help to assist with a carjacking investigation that took place at a local ATM on Sunday, 6 March.

“It is alleged a 29-year-old man was busy withdrawing money at a Total Garage in Randfontein when he was approached by four unknown men. They pointed at him with a firearm and forced him into his vehicle.

The suspects allegedly forced the victim to drive to Mohlakeng and then to the Zuurbekom area where the vehicle allegedly got stuck.

“The suspects then took the victim’s bank card and fled the scene. No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

The investigating officer would appreciate any information that might assist in the investigation.
