Rem through to SA champs

One athlete will represent Randfontein Primary School at the South African Athletics Championships.

Randfontein Primary School (Rem) did not disappoint at the Gauteng Athletics Championships.

The school’s three participating athletes held the name of the school high when they went to represent Rem in high jump and long jump at the big sporting event.

One of the athletes, Michel Banacini, finished first in the high jump category and is through to the South African Athletics Championships to be held in Port Elizabeth. He cleared a height of 1,62 metres.

The other two participating athletes, Joel, Michel’s brother and Mikhile Hendricks went into the final and semi-final respectively and landed the school in high rankings in the entire province.

Results:

• Michel Banacini – 1st place (high jump)

• Joel Banacini – top 12 (long jump) in Gauteng

• Mikhile Hendricks – top 30 (high jump) in Gauteng
