FOWR hosts first auditions

Model and DJ: This is not going to be an easy competition.

On Saturday 13 February the Face of West Rand (FOWR) hosted the first of their exciting auditions at Golden Guest House.

The organisers also announced that the second round of auditions is now open until 12 March. Application forms are available at their offices and could be downloaded from Facebook. The cost for registration is R250.

FOWR targets young, intellectual, beautiful and confident men and women regardless of body size and ethnicity to become West Rand ambassadors.

A group of models from different backgrounds gathered nervously yet excited in anticipation as famous faces such as a DJ Tebogo Siyaphi, (also known as Jones) and former model Mlungisi Mokoena (radio personality) also were introduced as judges at the first auditions.

This is not going to be an easy competition. To be an ambassador of the West Rand one must be willing to work hard and be able to initiate things because we need a strong person with leadership skills,” said Jones.

Her advice to those with ambitions to take over the throne is to make sure they find balance between their studies and pursuing their ambitions. The activity year-plan for models already has been drawn up.

“I would like to encourage all participants to learn and do research about the West Rand. There are many positive things about our region and some of the critical questions during the entire journey will be based on knowing your district,” said Paul Malome from FOWR.

Face of West Rand is a brand as well as an event endorsed by the West Rand District Municipality through the organisation of Divine FET Media in partnership with The Beauty Spot.

FOWR is a youth-orientated programme that aims to assist young people with leadership and skills development as well as serve as entertainment to the West Rand community.

Face of West Rand will partake in the Anti-Racism Activist March on Monday 21 March and the community is welcome to join.
