Calling all the needy

A business owner with a soft spot for the needy has started a feeding scheme.

Randfontein’s needy are in for a treat with a new feeding scheme project started in Delmas.

A business owner in Delmas who has a soft-spot for the needy has started a project to feed the poor every week.

Unlike the conventional soup kitchen, Mike Mudau, owner of Eunimike Chisa Nyama will be giving the needy food every Friday at 5pm.

“The project will be starting from 19 February. I’m not sure how long we will run it. It all depends on the response we get,” Mike said.

He stressed that he will only supply food to people who are in dire need.

“I want to eliminate people just taking free meals. This project is only for people who really can’t afford to get by,” he added.

Mike is also urging other business owners in Randfontein to step in and assist.

If there are any businesses or community members who would like to contribute to the project, they are more than welcome to give anything they can. It can be in the form of food stuffs or clothing then we can distribute it to the needy.”

When the Herald asked Mike why he decided on starting the project, he said it is their way of giving back to their immediate community.

Mike is calling on all the needy to come by his restaurant at 147 Main Reef next to the Jabulani tavern every Friday to get a free meal.

“The meal will be given out as a normal takeaway. On the menu right now is pap and stew,” he said.
