Truck driver hijacked, tied up

EPR: Search still on for missing truck-load of corn.

An unknown number of suspects recently managed to hijack a truck loaded with corn on the R28 near Bekkersdal and drove to a veld where they tied the driver up.

According to EPR, although they along with a tracking company managed to locate the truck the search is still on for the missing truck-load of corn. The incident took place last Wednesday.

EPR told the Herald the truck driver was hijacked after which he was tied up by the suspects and dropped in a veld. At about 8pm that same day the driver then managed to untie himself and went to look for help at an EPR client in Hillside. The client informed them who in turn informed the police as well as a tracking company.

EPR reaction officers then received the coordinates of the truck’s location. Eben Crous, an EPR tactical supervisor along with Stanley Botha, reaction supervisor and the tracking company then found the truck on the N14 in Brandvlei near Denny’s Mushroom’s.

EPR is proud of Eben Crous and Stanley Botha who continue to fight crime in Randfontein.
