Middle-aged man hijacked, taken on joyride

The suspects then allegedly covered his head and he was later dropped off in Soweto.

A middle-aged man had a harrowing experience after he was hijacked recently.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, we are requesting assistance in solving a hijacking case that occurred in Main Reef Road at about 4.30pm last Monday (11 January).

“It is alleged by the 56-year-old driver of a white Nissan Double Cab with registration CS61FSGP that he was stationary at the robot at Wimpy on Main Reef Road.

He was surprised when an unknown man opened the passenger door and pointed at him with a firearm. He was allegedly ordered to drive.”

The suspect then took him towards the open veld area near Bhongweni, where they were allegedly awaited by two other unknown men. They were driving in an Opel Corsa. The suspects then allegedly covered his head and he was later dropped off in Soweto.

Any person who saw this incident happening, are requested to contact the Randfontein Detectives on 011 278 8100.
