Painting the town blue
While you were enjoying New Year's eve, police were hard at work.
While residents were enjoying their New Year’s eve, the Krugersdorp Cluster Police were painting the town blue.
The police were out in full force – seven stations in the cluster conducted crime prevention operations within their respective precincts.
“The Cluster Commander, Maj General Mateisi was actively involved and led by example during searches at a roadblock in Randfontein and Kagiso, as well as during blue light patrols in all the areas to create visibility,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.
Police concentrated on illegal liquor outlets, road traffic offences and the controlling of fireworks to ensure a safe transition into 2016.
“Successes include seven arrests made for drunken driving in Randfontein, two arrests for trading in liquor without a license and the confiscating of 43 litres of alcohol in Tarlton. Police arrested one person in Magaliesburg for being in possession of stolen property and another for assault.
Major General Anna Mateisi congratulated all members and other stakeholders including traffic departments; EMS; CPF structures as well as community patrollers for their efforts and commitment in ensuring a peaceful New Years eve,” said Ernst.
“I wish to thank the residents in the Krugersdorp Cluster for your support throughout 2015 and wish everyone a peaceful and safe 2016. Together we will ensure a crime free cluster,” said Mateisi.
