Father and son fall victim to trespassers

Police: The men at the door told one of the victims they are planning a funeral and they are in need of a pastor.

No arrests have been made following a recent incident in Toekomsrus where a father and his son was tied up while two men ransacked the house.

The incident took place at around 1pm one Thursday in December.

“It is alleged the father, 43, heard a knock on the door but he did not respond since his son answered the door. The son called him and told him that there are people at the door.

He found two men at the door who told him they are planning a funeral and they are in need of a pastor.”

The victim then allowed the men access to his house. Once inside, the men overpowered him and tied him and his son up. The suspects then removed a safe containing a substantial amount of money and other property from the house. The suspects then left the house.

No serious injuries were reported. The investigating officer, Warrant officer Bongani Mpete would appreciate any information that might assist him in the investigation. He can be contacted on 011 278 8100.
