Home burglars awaken sleeping couple

Police: Their heads were covered and they were instructed not to move.

A couple are left shaken after being woken by two burglars in the bedroom of their Wheatlands home.

The incident took place one Saturday in December at 3am. Police are still seeking the suspects.

“It is alleged by the 34-year-old victim that he and his wife were asleep, when they were woken by a strange noise. When he opened his eyes, he noticed an unknown male suspect.

“The suspect was already in the bedroom. A second suspect then entered. The one suspect pointed the victims with a firearm. Their heads were covered and they were instructed not to move,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

The suspects then ransacked the house, taking valuables such as televisions, computers and other electronic devices. The suspects eventually left. Upon investigation it was found the suspects gained entrance to the residence by forcefully opening the back door.

Any person who might know anything about the stolen property are requested to call the Randfontein Detectives on 011 278 8100.

Information will be treated with the necessary confidentiality.
