Victim shot, killed during argument

Police: Victim and the suspect allegedly had an argument.

Randfontein Police are looking for the person responsible for a fatal shooting during an altercation in Mohlakeng that happened in December.

The victim passed away as a result of a bullet wound to his chest. The suspect is still at large.

Randfontein Police spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst confirmed that police were called out to a shooting incident just before midnight (at around 11.20pm) at the Madala Hostel in Ralerata Street on Monday 14 December.

Upon their arrival they were informed that someone shot the victim at about 10.45pm. The victim and the suspect allegedly had an argument and it turned violent.

“A spaza shop owner in the area, allegedly tried to defuse the situation, but it was in vain. The victim went into the spaza shop for his own safety, but the suspect followed him. The suspect then fired one shot at the victim and left.”

Lieutenant Mdlalose is investigating the case and he can be contacted on 011 278 8100 with any information regarding this murder.
