Top RHS matriculant shares his secret

Karabo: I want to be the best I can be.

Karabo Mokhine, a Randfontein High School (RHS) matriculant and one of their top performing pupils revealed to the Herald his secret recipe for success.

Karabo is off to study Civil Engineering at Wits this year. His secret to his success is to never give up and to always push himself to the the limit in whatever he chooses to undertake.

Every morning I wake up to everything God has blessed me with. I want to be the best I can be,” said Karabo, who lives in Toekomsrus.

Karabo did not lay back and rest during the December holidays. He worked at a retail store to earn extra money and started to read books on engineering to prepare him for his studies this year.

Karabo’s dream is to one day be a Project Manager at a big company in South Africa. His moto in life is: Always be humble, do not settle for anything below your limits.

He says he thinks one of the biggest problems with today’s youth is laziness. The youth should also understand that they are here to overcome all obstacles that comes their way. His anchor in life is God and he says that he admires his father, Pule Mokhine, for always working hard and giving them the best that he can.

His other inspiration in RHS was his math teacher, Romulus O’ Brien, for always pushing them to do better.

On the 30 percent a pupil has to get in order to pass he comments, “It is definitely too low.”

His message to his fellow matriculants and the youth of Randfontein is: Never stop learning.
