Police: Two unknown suspects came from the side of the road armed with firearms.

A man in his 30s became the most recent victim of a hijacking while driving along the New Kagiso Road towards Randfontein, local police said.

The incident occurred at around 11am on Tuesday, 15 December.

“It is alleged the 35-year-old victim yielded for a white Corsa bakkie who turned into the same road. The bakkie was allegedly travelling very slowly and eventually blocked the road. The victim also came to a standstill. Two unknown suspects came from the side of the road, armed with firearms.

The victim was forced out of his vehicle and placed inside the Corsa. His hands allegedly were tied. He was dropped off on Impala Road a while later.

‘The suspects took the white Chevrolet with registration number ACT 033WP as well as the driver’s cellphone and some cash,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

The VISS Lenasia is investigating the matter and Sergeant Shikwambana can be contacted on 011 213 9000 or 079 525 1381.
