Class of 2015 pass rate drops to 70,7 percent

Eastern Cape the worst performing province with 56,8 percent pass rate.

The class of 2015 managed a national pass rate of 70,7 percent, said Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga on Tuesday.

This is a drop of over 5 percent compared to the pass rate of 75,8 percent achieved in 2014.

The top performing province is the Western Cape (84,7 percent) followed by Gauteng (84,2 percent) and the Free State (81,6 percent). The Eastern Cape and worst performing province achieved a pass rate of 56,8 percent only.
